Check...check...

Sitting up...

CHECK!!

Finally, eating food and keeping it down....

CHECK!!

More flowers

Last night was beautiful, so we took a walk up to the lake after dinner.  Emerson kicked and played in her stroller and Hayden picked roses and rocks and threw them into the lake.  He thought it was so funny that the fish would swim to the top and attack the rose as they thought it was food.  As we were walking home, I noticed he was holding on to a rose.  Once inside, he told me to close my eyes and the rose disappeared. In the midst of getting everyone ready for bed, I forgot about this rose.  It wasn't until I was getting ready to jump into bed that I came across this...

It was the perfect ending to a wonderful day!!

Learning to eat

Who knew it was so hard to feed a baby!  This little girl does not like to eat.  If a spoon enters her mouth, it is followed by gagging and then throwing up.  Three times now Hayden and I have tried to give her some cereal (we are talking 90% milk 10% cereal) and each time she ended up throwing up.  I sure hope she gets the hang of eating soon.

Her eyes are watering from all the gagging

Sitting in the grass

Emerson has been doing pretty good at sitting up these past few days.  It was nice outside so we headed outside to practice sitting up in the grass.  As you can see by her face, she was not very amused.  She gave me the "seriously mom" look, fell backwards, and refused to sit in the grass again.  Reminds me of one boy that was not very fond of the grass when he was her age.  I recall getting the same exact look from Hayden!

This is the boy

This is the boy who brings his mommy flowers, the first buttercup of the year...

This is the boy who smooshed that buttercup on his hand..

This is the boy who made "mustard" on his hand..

This is the boy with the kindest of hearts and greatest of imaginations.  This is the boy I love more and more each and every day!!

5 months old

That's right...today you are 5 months old.  As Hayden tells everyone, "Emerson is none and she has no teeth".  He is exactly right, still no teeth and I guess you will be none until your first birthday.  Your big brother loves you so much and is obsessed with the fact you have no teeth.  You are still drooling like crazy and biting everything in sight, so I figure by the time you hit 6 months you might have a tooth or two.  You are getting pretty strong and can sit up for about two seconds before you fall over.  Still sleeping pretty good through the night, sometimes you sleep a whole 12 hours and other times just 6 hours.  The big news is that you are now sleeping in your own room, but still in the swing.  Lets hope by 6 months you will be in your crib...please!!  You had your 4 month Dr. appointment (at 5 months) and you weighed in at 13lb 3oz (25%) and are 25.5 inches long (75%).  So you are a long, skinny girl.  We tried to feed you some cereal and you are not ready to eat solid foods yet, in fact, you threw up both times we tried to feed you.  You also threw up Tylenol all over the floor at your Dr. appointment.  I guess you are going to be a picky eater like your mother.  You are growing and changing each and every day. We love you so much baby girl!!

Take me out to the ballgame

Last Saturday was Hayden's first baseball game.  I found it to be hilarious, while David found it to be a little frustrating as Hayden was that child who was kicking dirt. We are so proud of Hayden, he was the first to bat and he smacked that ball right off the tee like a pro.  The only problem...he had not a clue where he was supposed to run.  He chased right after the ball instead of running to first base.  It was classic.  Thats okay, because not only was he the first to hit the ball, but he was also the first to get a run.  He was pretty clueless the whole game, but I think he did great for his first game.  I can't wait to see what the rest of the season has in store for us.

Moving on up!

Well, we finally decided it was time for Emerson to move...to her own room that is.  She had been in our room for 4 months and it was getting to the point were, I believe, we were keeping each other up.  So she has officially moved on up to her room.  One huge problem, she is still sleeping in her swing.  She refuses to sleep in her crib.  She is a stubborn little girl.  Well, I am just happy she is sleeping in her room, we will keep working on the crib.

This is where she currently sleeps
