Really, could my four and a half month old already have a case of seperation/stranger anxiety? It is not really stranger anxiety, it is more anyone but my mommy or daddy anxiety. I didn't even realize it was possible this young, but she made it very clear Friday night that it is indeed possible. David and I went out for a few hours only to find out she pretty much cried the whole time we were out. All our friends want to get their hands on her and hold her, but it takes a whole 30 seconds for Emerson to realize it is not her mommy or daddy and goes to fussing. We might be in big trouble here!!! However, I can't really complain that our baby girls loves us so much. Just look at the way she looks at her daddy...

The hairdo mystery
Poor Emerson might have the worst hairdo ever. Most of her baby hair on top of her head has fallen out and there is new growth, much lighter than what was once there. But in the back, the dark, baby hair has not fallen out. It is as dark as can be and is almost starting to resemble a mullet. Then there is the bald spot where she has rubbed all her hair off that perfectly hightlights her birthmark. It is really not a good look, poor baby. To top it all of, it is a complete mystery as to what color her hair is going to be. Sometimes it has a hint of strawberry, sometimes red, and sometimes blonde. Whatever color it will be, I just want it to grow!!

A very special weekend
This past Sunday, our sweet Emerson was Baptized. It was a great day. The weather was beautiful and Emerson was nothing less than perfect. She was like a little angel as she sat/slept in David's lap until it was her time to be baptized. I was so afraid she was going to wake up and scream, but as Lynn took her from David she opened her eyes and never made a peep. So good, that Lynn wanted to take her home with him. After the Bapitsm, we headed back to our house for some brunch. It was truly an amazing day with family and friends.

Donuts with Daddy
Today was donuts with Daddy at school today. Hayden was so excited for Daddy to take him to school today to show him off to all his friends. Hayden had a few presents he made for his Daddy and one was a placemat with his footprints and this sweet poem...
Footprints
"Walk a little slower Daddy",
said a child so small
"I am following in your footsteps,
and I don't want to fall.
Sometimes your steps are very fast,
Sometimes they're hard to see
So walk a little slower, Daddy
For you are leading me
Someday when I'm all grown up,
You're what I want to be;
Then I will have a little child,
Who'll want to follow me
And I would want to lead just right,
And know that I was true;
So, walk a little slower, Daddy,
For I must follow you."

Reaching and Grabbing
There has been a lot of reaching...
and grabbing going on.
Emerson loves grabbing her toes and tries her best to put them in her mouth. She spends a lot of time lately doing a whole lot of this...

Conversations with Hayden and Emerson
I was in my room unpacking from my girls trip and happened to catch Hayden talking to Emerson as she sat in her Bumbo. It went a little something like this-
Hayden: "Emerson, I will love you forever and ever and ever. When you were in mommies tummy I told you I wanted to put you back in it and I also called you nothing, but I think you are really sweet."
I completely forgot how he was not excited about having a baby sister. He always said he wanted a brother and when I found it was a girl I was actually afraid to tell him he was going to have a sister. He actually told me if it was a girl we could just put her back in my tummy. He took the news better than I thought, except he did not like the Emerson Reese. Whenever anyone asked us what we were going to name her, Hayden would reply "nobody or nothing". I got some funny looks from people after that response. Then he finally started warming up to the idea of having a baby sister and he decided he was okay with the name Reese Cup. He called her that for a long time. He has been so amazing with her and is such a great big brother. He even decided she was cool enough and decided he could call her by her name, Emerson.
The end of the above conversation ended like this:
Hayden: "Here Emerson, stick you finger in your nose"
Yep, he crammed her fat little finger right into her nose.

Girls Trip 2011
That is right, I am headed on a girls weekend to Atlanta. There will be lot of shopping and laughter. There will always be sadness as this is the first time to leave Emerson. Luckily, David is not on his own, he has the help of Mimi. I know he is fully capable of handling them on his own, but since Emerson has decided to start waking up in the middle of the night like a newborn, I knew he would need an extra hand. I sure am going to miss these two faces and David too.
Be good for you Daddy sweet babies! I will see you on Sunday.

4 months old
That is right...4 months old and what a wonderful 4 months it has been. I can't believe you have been here for a quarter of a year. You are such a happy and laid back little girl. You pretty much sleep throught the night, however, this week you are on a nap/sleep strike. You take two to three 10 minute naps a day...ugh...help your momma out here. You are so tired that you have been falling asleep at 8pm and waking up at 2:30am. I miss the nights you slept from 9pm-7am. I assume your sleep is off from either teething or a growth spurt. I sure hope it doesn't last to long!! I was really bragging about you sleeping through the night, I guess that is where I went wrong. I jinxed myself. You are getting so strong, you hold your head up so high and are very close to rolling over both directions without help. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us this next month. Since you have hit your 4 month mark it is time for mommy to get tough on you. It is time to get out of the swing and into your bed. I have a feeling this is going to be a tough transition..but we will get through it. We will also probably start some solid foods...cereal. Can't wait to see how you like it. Love you baby girl!!
Breaking new...I just got your first laugh right after posting this. You seem to be ticklish right under your neck just like your mommy. There is nothing better than hearing your first laugh!!

Finding the right combo
The past week Emerson has spent a lot of time with her hands in her mouth. She has tried just about every combination of fingers...
One finger
Two fingers
The whole hand
And finally, she settled on her favorite...
Her Thumb!!

Dear David,
I know how much you love brain squeezers, so I thought I would get one for our precious little girl. What do you think?
I am not so sure she is sold on it!
Sockless Hayden
I can't figure out why this boy does not like socks or should I say sock. I feel like I spend at least thirty mintues a day tracking down his socks. Not only do I have to worry about the sock monster in the dryer, but also Hayden the sock monster. Here is what most days look like...
