Thankful for day 23

Today I am thankful for family and getting to spend time with them during the holidays.  There is nothing like good food, family, football and maybe even an afternoon nap.  We are blessed to have such wonderful families to spend the holidays with.  Some years we travel and some years we stay home, either way there is nothing like being with family.

Playing catch up on Thankful days

Leave it to me to get behind on my Thankful days, I don't even know what day I am on.  It's not that I  am not thankful every single day, it's just sometimes there is just not enough time in the day or am just plain to tired.  That has pretty much been the story of my life these past nine months.  I am thankful that David has put up with me.  I am blessed he goes to work every day so I can stay at home with the kids.  It is truly the toughest job I have ever done, but the most rewarding and fulfilling by far.  I am surprised David has not fired me over the past nine months.  The truth is, my skills have been lacking.  There have been way more days where the laundry was pushed aside, the house was wreck, dinner was not cooked and you would be lucky to find a bowl of cereal to eat as I never made it to the grocery store.  He has walked in the door from a long, hard day at work to find utter chaos many days.  I'm sure he would have loved to shut the door and pretend like he never came home, but he always walked in, not always with a smile, but at least he didn't turn and run.   He would take the kids to dinner, bathe them and put them to bed as I lay on the couch.  He is truly a hands on Dad and is always there to take care of us.  I feel lucky every single day that he is my husband and the father to our children.

Thankful for day #9

I am thankful for the hugs and kisses I get right beforre the bus pulls up to pick up Hayden.  I don't know how much longer I will get them, so I will take as many as he is willing to give.  Emerson loves waiting on the school bus, it is the highlight of her day to see Mr. Scott pull up in the morning and then again in the afternoon.  However, I think in the afternoon she is just excited to see her brother.

Thankful for day #8

Two years ago today, we were with our sweet, little girl.  We never knew how much joy, laughter and love she would bring our family.  Oh my, she has such a personality and a lot of fiest.  She loves Target, Caillou, anything and everything sweet, and her big brother.  She is his little shadow and wants to do everything he does whether it is coloring or playing Legos.  She also likes to boss him around, will stomp her foot and say "stop it, Hayden".  After she yells at him, she might go in for a kiss, and it has to be right on his lips...poor guy, he sure is the best to her.  She talks more and more every day.  It is so fun to watch her grow into Her own little person.  I am thankful everyday to have her in my life.  So happy Birthday my sweet girl!  May two be good to you, I am hoping for the terrific two's and not the other.

Crazy Love

Today it was just me and Emerson and she sure can make for an interesting day.  Whether she is drinking from the sink, laughing at herself in the mirror, finding ways to escape, throwing a fit in the Target parking lot (it is not easy being 34 weeks pregnant and bending over to pick up a screaming and flailing child), or just looking cute, I have nothing but crazy love for this girl.  She makes me want to pull my hair out one moment and the next I can't help but squeeze and kiss her.

Thankful for day #7

Today I am thankful for Wednesday Night Live at church.  Emerson gets to go play in the nursery, Hayden gets to sing with his friends and I get to hang out with the girls and have our "happy hour" at church.

Thankful for Day #6

Today I am thankful for "no school" days.  There was no rushing around in the morning to get Hayden ready and out the door to catch the bus.  Instead, we stayed in our PJs, played Legos, and built racetracks, played babies and had movie night.  These days are few and far between lately so I am soaking it all in.

I am also thankful for the Ipad, because here I sit with it in my lap trying to keep up with the presidential election results as the kids watch Toy Story.  I don't know how I ever survived without it.

Thankful for day #5

I am thankful that Hayden enjoys playing soccer, but even more so that his Daddy is there to not only cheer him on, but to coach his team.

Thankful for day #4

I am thankful for cinnamon roll Sunday, as Hayden calls it.  We bake cinamon rolls and scramble around trying to get everyone dressed and out the door to church on time.  I am thankful that Hayden has made great friends at church and has accepted The Lord in his heart.  I couldn't help but feel so blessed to watch him stand on before the congregation this morning and sing from his heart.

Thankful for days 2 and 3

Day #2

I am thankful for quiet Friday nights with the family.  All snuggled up on the couch, with a movie, and Halloween candy.

Day #3

I am thankful that David and Hayden get to have man time and do their Saturday morning breakfast.  Even though I am super jealous they are out getting doughnuts, or pancakes or whatever Hayden decides is on "the list" and Emerson and I are home eating cereal, I know David and Hayden are making special memories.

Thankful for day #1

Today I am thankful that Hayden is enjoying school so much and received a wonderful first report card!  He received high marks all around.  He is enjoying math and loves to read.  It is amazing how much he has learned his first 9 weeks of school.  His teacher says the only thing he needs to work on is loosening up and having fun, instead of worrying about getting in trouble.  At our parent teacher conference, his teacher was telling us how when a child says something funny and the whole class laughs, Hayden looks to her just to make sure it is okay to laugh.  Sweet boy!
